DECLINE IN WOOL.
LESS SPIRITED COMPETITION A decline in Wool values is reported in the following cablegram received by the Premier from the British Director of Raw Materials:—‘‘ The eighth series of the ‘London wool sales closed on December 20. Competition throughout the series has been less spirited than during November, especially for medium and coarse crossbreds, which at times have "been difiicult of sale, re-sulting-in frequent withdrawals. Fine crossbreds have met with better receptions from the ‘trade, but have also participated in the general decline in Wool. Values, as compared with the close of -the November rates -are as follow:-—'Fine crossbreds 7-} per cent Cheaper, medium and coarse 15 per cent cheaper; scoured wools sell on a sumlar basis, but on slips ‘the decfine (1005 not exceed five per’ cent for fine, \ and 10 per cent for coarse descriptions..” J
