Democracy can never come in its fullness as long as employers set themselves up as. kaisers of industry, and attempt to dictate all the terms under which men must labour. The laws, rules and regulations of industry govern the very lives of the workers, and until they have some say in the making of these laws which govern them, industrial democracy will not exist, and yet a. great many employers‘ refuse to treat with their employees, and shout loudly that we in this coun~ try enjoy democracy in its. fullness. These are the men who, in a large de-gr-cc,” are adding fuel to the fires of unrest. Such men as Judge Gary of the “Steel Trust,” who refused to meet his employees or in any way have dealings with them. whether consciously or unconsciously, sets himself up as 2." kaiser of industry laying down the laws under which thousands of men must labour. This is government without the consent of the governed. The Kaiser of Germany bit the dust of humility. So also will true »p»rog-ress: push aside the kaisers of ind.ustry.-—«“Utah News.”
