NEW YEAR'S DAY SPORTS.

The events include pony jumping, for. which unusually ' valuable prizes are -offered. Tlieré are [ some half-a-dozen horse events; for the .open jumping event no less than £2O ‘are offered in prizes. The entries for all events-———athletic, chopping, and khorse——-«are so numerous as tn ensure most interesting contests. The llan"di~ [capper has cioyered. every race with ‘doubt, and there is ncitliing sure for‘ ‘any competitor but the right. to comlpete; for those who do not bring their 'lunch -there will be ample purchasable supplies on the ground. Mr T. Shute win 3150 have an aerated. drink stall, from whence, the vari6us popular temperance drinks may be purchased. AS stated before, the Athletic Club Committee has arranged for :1 fully amplisupply of hot water and fresh mill: both of which may be had by any visi- » tor quite free of charge. So that every opporltunity is given for an enjoyable» picnic, as well as see the sports and horse‘-jumping.‘ It is hoped the A~thle— " tic Club will meet with tlie patrona-ge their efiorts unquestionably merit.
