It was: a.rin»o.u'nced recently that in order to circr‘llrlV'erlt‘ the fired Wholesale price of bacon a?na"éi;}ea ham, the manufacturer ivas only?" selling green pork, and charging edfee in addition for curing. Another firm hah now announced‘ that it is discontinuing curing in the ordinary Way, and is prepared to sell pork and ham at 1/4 per lb, plus 2d curing fee, and pork sides at 1/3 per lb plus 2d curing fee. The maximuxn prices, ‘if the article was sold as cured, would be 1/3%} for pork hams, and 1/15 for pork sides. Ham is selling to day in the shops at’l/9 per pound. Under the circumstances, the wholesale rates for bacon and hams fixed "by the Board of Trade are a farce so far as their eifec/t on keeping down the prices to the public are concerned. They are being exceeded by the method stated by 25rd to 3-Zgd per lb.
