SUNKEN GERMAN FLEET.
SALVAGE’ OPERATIONS. ALLIES DEMAND ‘SHIPS. ' LONDON, Dec. B.‘ In order to satisfy the clamonous demands of France and Italy, the Admiralty has been compelled to uné dertake extensive salvage operations at Scapa Flow. . The United States has waived all claims to the ships, de_cl.al-ing ‘that the German fleet is well sunk. Great Britain proposed sinking the remaining ships, but the Allies decided upon a scheme of division Each Great ‘Power is to receive a German battleship, cruiser, and -destroyer, nominally for scientific purposes. It is agreed that these ships shall be destroyed lafter shipping constructors have completed their studies. France’s battleship will ‘be the super dreadnought Baden. ‘Britain has promised to try and raise another for Italy. Other nations will be'satisfied with older battleships not yet handed over by Germany.
The Allies have specially allocated To France and Italy five cruisers and ten destroyers each. Tllis will require the salvage_ of at least three cruisers from Soapa Flbw. The balance will comprise ships not‘ yet handecl over, and those which were not sunk. A
