INTERVIEW WITH MRS GUNSON. Amongst‘. the passengers WllO landed in Auckland from the Niagam “"35 Mrs. J. H. Gunson, who has returned from an extended ftrip with Mr Gunson through America. The tour; Which -was en‘tirely.a health and pleasure trip extended right ac;-_o.ss from San Francisco, thence the New Zeallanders went on to Boston and through to New York, and right -across the continent, going south.right as far as Mexico, and from there again up to Vancouver. Mrs Gunson, who 100118 very much improved in health by her vacation, greatly enjoyed the experience,, but had not time, to take any interest in the public life of The people. - A Mrs Gunson said she was immensely; impressed by the American people, the i cord‘-iality of their welcome to that visitors tothe Dominion, and the wideness of their outlook. Questioned as‘ to whether she no-tieed much difierence 1 between New Zealand women and Americans, Mrs Gunson said she‘ thought the women of the States were freer, and more enthusiastic intheir Welcome to strangers, and wider in their general outlook; although she did not meet many people personally, for the -tour took three solid months. The country was‘ sohviast, the lakes and plains sO- big, that the people could only be as big as well, yet she was glad to be back in Auckland once more, and pleased to say that both herself and MI .Gunson were greatly benefited by the change.
