LABOUR’S LAND POLICY.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—l have read the letter in your issue of yesterday signed “Ten Acres.” Can you inform me if the clauses he quotes as being extracts from the Labour Party’s platform are. correct. I have been battling all I know for the Labour candidate, because I am a worker myself, but I have not actually seen their platform. If “Ten Acres’’ is: purposely misquoting he ought to bo contradicted, and I shall be grateful if you will publish the Labour Party’s land platform in full. Although a/ worker I own a few acres myself, and if what “Ten Acres” wrote is a true copy of their land proposals, then that’s the end of the Labour candidate as far a s I am concerned, because I am certainly ont prepared to accept Government valuation for my section if I am ever obliged to sell. — I am, etc., WORKER. So that “Worker” may compare “Ten Acres” statement with Labour’s Land Platform from which he quoted hereunder give a verbal quotation; “(b) Thq securing to the community of all values created by the community.” “(3) (a) A state valuation of all privately-owned land, such valuation to remain on record as l the measure of present landholder’s interest in land.” “(b) Land shall not be sold or transferred except to or from the State.”
“(c) The owner shall have the right to surl'endel' his land on the valuation set out in sub-clause (a).” ‘ '
