CHAUTAUQUA.

On Thursday evening, weather conditions having vastly improved, there was a large attendance in the Chautauqua tent, and the reward was a musical treat of rar e excellence. The audience showed liigh appreciation of the many items supplied by the Zedeler Symphonic Quintette, which comprisp s two ladies and three gentlemen, all high-class musicians, all well capable of intepreting the greatest music of the old masters. Their' programmes are for all the people. The symphonic effects obtained by the Zedelers in their concerts are enhanced by a specially built reed organ which, when combined with the piano and stringed instruments, produces the reed and wind effects of a large orchestra. Nieolai Zedeler, organiser and director of the company, was formerly solo 'eellist of the Symphony Orchestra of Stockholm, Sweden. The Zedeler Quintette certainly put up a marvellous performance last night ; the programme was distinctly classical, and the renditions were of a very high order, artistic, from every point of view. It is not too much to claim that the Zedeler Quintette is the best of all small orchestras that has yet been heard in tliis town. Tonight the Zedelers will furnish the concert portion of the programme, then will follow Mr M. C. Read's celebrated lecture, "The Value of Vision." Our readers are urged not to miss hearing the Zedeler Quintette to-night, as it is the last opportunity they will have, and they will certainly be deeply interested in Mr Read's great lecture. To-morrow night, Saturday,' the "Fenwick Newell Concert Party" will take the first half of the programme, both afternoon and evening, anM in the evening the finest lecture of the season will be delivered by Dr. Caroline Giesel, the subject being, "The Eoad to Happiness." As the Fenwick. Concert Party have a great reputation there will no doubt be a crowded tent on Saturday night.
