AMUSEMENTS

TOWN HALL PICTURES. It is not often that a two star programme has such abounding ‘merit asthat shown at the Town A Hall last" night. The drama, “Her Price,” featuring Virginia Pearson is an absorbing story ,with a profound moral. The motif of the story is of an ambitious‘ girl who wished to climb to the top of the ladcler of success, and being poor is faced with the alternate of abandoning her career, or procuring the money to pursue her studies——at a; price. She took the latter course, and when her ai ‘was accomplished, and she was abandoned ‘by the manner to whom she paid the price, she _found that her success was nothing but Dead‘ Sea fruit. Her denunciation of her betrayer is one ofthe most powerful scenes in the dl-am:=.A.‘and‘ its intensity and pathos cannot fail to touch the heart of everyone. Then the unfortunate girls vlives for vengeance, and“ years after she takes her full measure on her betrayer’s brother (the other having died in the meantime), and utterly ruins him. But the "story has a. happy ending. which it is not our province to disclos-0. The acting throughout is superb. and the dressing a revelation of artistry. The second star is Tom Mix as “Hell Roarin? Reform.“ If it was only for the marvellous sagacity and- porforinances of Tom’s trained horse this picture would stand on a plane by itself. All the incidents are. thrilling, and’ there is fund of humour running througlr the piece that is delightful, particularly Tom l\’[ix’g, debut as a parson. TSB other pictures" are of an equally interesting nature, and we advise HIOSO who have not seen the Dl‘ogl‘amm9 t° do so tonight, when it will be :<hOWII for the last time.

. THE KING’S~ . TO-NIGHT ONLY. .._.._.... A husband ’s brnmlit}'. a wife"s refuge), ‘the riva.l’s quarrel. the rnurrler, all make a. story That is out of the 01'd'ina1'y,- “~“d Such 3* story lzhat hohls the closest interest to‘ the end. SLlpp{\r_h\d l')_x;- two comedies, Gazette, and on S;n*=.mlny Iligllt “The Barrier" will ‘hm -':?v%=)\vll at usual prices. '
