AWARDS T 0 WAR INVENTORS. THE CREDIT FOR TANKS. Received 8.45 a.m. . LONDON, Nov. 27. The Royal Commission on Awards to Inventors has reported that it was privmarily due to the receptivity courage, and driving force of Mr Churchill that the general idea was put into practice. The report L>.ttributes the principal credit of the designing and production of tanks to Sir William Tritton. and Major Wilson, to whom £15,000 sterling was jointly awarded. Major-General Swintonkvas awarded £IOOO sterling. The report recognises the still greater value of his work in the advocacy of the use of tanks, for which pecuniary award is inappropriate. Another claimant was axwarded £IOOO. also two others £SOO each. Sonic claimants were disqualifled, because investigations Were with-‘ in the score of’ their duties.
