Chautauqua is now a great New Zealand. educative cum-entertaining organisation. It. has become such by its very nature being fully recognised and appreciated by the people of the Dominion from the ‘North Cape to the Bluff. By its value as an attractive educative institution it grew in America. from a very small, temporai-y affair to being the largest travelling educative and entertaining medium, Several New Zealanders are now travelling the United States and Canada on the Chautauqua programmes, lecturing or providing music, vocal and instrumental. In the New Zealand programme are figuring artists and lecturers from other parts of the world, and thus an Anglo-Saxon demo.cracy is being helped eonwurd, welding “the whole Anglo-Saxon race into one mighty people. Chautauqua opens in Taihape tomorrow, Tuesday, and it is eoiifidently ullticipaf€d that there will be an immense» crowd at the oflicial opening programme. The Auckland season was an unqualified success, and the following letters speak for themselves as to how Chautauqua is neing welcomed in provincial towns:—Dear Sir,—VVe beg to advise you that at the fine‘. concert given by your Association in Darglaville, a resolution by an enthusiastic audience was unanimously carried to the efl-Tect that the residents of this ' district have thoroughly enjoyed and highly appre—ciated the entire programme given by you, and cordially commend (’Jh|autauqua to the hospitality of any other community in New Zealand, which your Association visits during the present tour.
