MOTOR CARS AT THE MELBOURNE CUP MEETING.
One of the sights of Flemington on Cup Day is the huge eolfleetiou of motor cars arranged neatly in rows in the Various reserves set apart for .-that purpose. No such sight is to be seen anywhere else in the world. The arr-oy of cars, from the 101-dly Rolls-Royce to the übiquitous Ford, brings home in an unmistakable manner the advance made in motoring in the last decade. On Cup Day there were 1337 ears checked in the reserves, and a c:ll'efu‘l inspection of every car revealed the interesting and 'lllstl'uctiVo fact that the Australian-made Dunlop tyre ranks an easy first for popularity, and popularity means satisfactory and economical service. The census Of tyres revealed the fact that 2608 Dunlops were in use, or more ahan the whole of the four nexu makes at top of list. In plain figures, there were nearly two Dunlop tyres ‘fol' every car present at » Flemington. Such dolniuauee amongst 37 makes of tyres speaks volumes for the quality and workmanship of ithe Australian pro. duetion. V
