The seumen‘s notice expires at 9 o'clock on Wednesday morning. The men state that they are prepared to call the strike oft‘ provided the owners grant the conference terms. The owners maintain that if the seamen persist in their present attitude there seems no atterimtive but. a long and disasterous strike.
