BUSHFELLING FATALITY.

Hughes, 3 Iharried man, was struck on the head by a branch of a falling tree whilst engaged in bushfelling on big section at Mangapara, 32 miles frlim Raetihi yesterday afternoon. The in--jurod man was eonve)r(.-d to Raetihi and was brought to Taihape on the express this morning. His injuries Wereso serious that death ensued shortly after arrival at the hoépiinal. Hughes had been on active service for about three and a half years, and had been; for about eight months on his section since his return. He was married just recently, and was just; establishing ’a home for himself.
An inquest will be held tomorrow. The relatives of deceased will arrive by the éxprcss to—night, and the bodywill be convc-_3'-ed to '\Vellington for _intorment.
It appears that the decezasml -had‘ let a. contract for falling his bush, and at the time of the accident. he was working for the contractor, Mr Mol‘rison.
