' It is I‘zLl'c indeed to have two film stars of such calibre as Gladys Brockwell and Peggy Hyland appearing on the one programme, zbut that will be the case tonight at the Town Hall, The former will appear as Adele Durant in “The‘ Bird of Pre,V,” which is a story of a 1 woman who craved for revenge and; found love, and of a scarlet woman's} Supreme sacrifice. She becomes the bandits’ queen, and leads her men in some thrilling adventures, and made herivay from dance hali to mansion, and finally gained the respect of all. There are enough amazing incidents in the story to create half a. dozen pictures, the five furious fights being very realistic affairs. V Through scene after scene of this tremendous production an heroic young man and woman battle desperately with a gang of reckless criminals-—-battle with wits and fists to well-arned and glorious victory. ‘Many humorous incidents are included to provide Welcome flayour. The programme is one ‘that ‘should not be missed, constituting as ;it does a landmark in picture-produc-‘tion in Taihape
THE KING'S PICTU RES.
TO-NIGHT. “Unexpected Places” in which the popular Metro star Bert Lytell plays the leading role of Dick Holloway, is one of Meti-o’s most successful pro(luctipns. It is a :breezy play, full of vim and go and the story is. afilpegling both because it is adventure of ‘a regular manrs sort and because_ it has a loyalty toucl; where the three Hun spies were worsted in the battle of brain and brawn which ensued.‘ The play is admirably wen clo'ne both in acting and directing. Rhea Mitchell plays the leading feminine fcharacter of Ruth Penfield and Colin ‘Kenney is seen as Lord Varclen. Many exciting adventures are ‘thrust upon Dick, but when a beautiful young girl claims him for her cousin he finds that he is fully compensated for all the dangers that he has undergone. The story is full of real thrills and quick ncilon. The supporting items reach a high level of excellence-. The Christie Comedy gets its full share of laughs. The comedy is entitled “The Night of His Life.” A youthful bridegroom to be is given a party ;by his friends the evening’ before his marriage and he looks for about ten too many minutes on the Wine when it is red. Complications ensue that make a lively farce. The liveliness_ the personality of tlie player§_ are the assets of the film. The scenic. educational is extremely pleasing “The Horizon Hunters” shows the efforts of a party to cross the never ending ridges.
