FOREIGN FUNDS FOR STRIKERS
CONFESSION OF AN AGENT.
The suspicio ntlmt. the strikes in Britain in August were part of a definite conspiracy, which ‘had its rocrs abroad, to subvert the present system of government, is confirmed. A foreign agent fell into the hands of ‘the authorities, Who were able to establish conclusively the existence of an international conspiracy. The story begins'wi'th the desDatch.of an urgent appeal for funds from revolutionary quarters in his countrfr to :1 German resident in this country before the war and now in America.’ The liraxt link in the chain was the sending of a message "by Tchitchcx-i_n, the Foreign I\linistel- of the Russia nßolshe—vists, to Bela Kun, suggesting that he should get into communicatio.-x with the I'cVol~utional'y clement in this 001111try. -

After a. night’os detention he 'n~.:n.de a confession to the effect that he had fulfilled his mission and handed over the packet. It should be recoi-do-:1 that the agitator in question, whose identity is known. denies having received any sum of money in this way. When Zacariassen was searched, it was found that he had in his possession :». large sum of money in English banknotes which he said he had obtained in Norway, and a large stock of Bolshevist pamphlets. He has now been. deported. 1 e The sum of £6OOO has been mentioned in this pai-ticular case, but t'bc~ authoiities regard it as a i:lel'c_dl'op in the bucket. The police are new i-11~ vestigating the sources of income‘ and dbijects of cei-tuin organisations. in England with which the agitator mentioned in Zachariassen case is connected. The association of these organisations.with the strikes is well established
I 'Ot'hol' phases of I'CVolll'[iO&l3.l‘}7 propaganda have lately come -to light. A man has come forward pl'cparcd to delclare on oath that he was recently approached with plans for a nn.lt.illy among the British troops in Russia. Some incriminating docuniénts fonnfl on :1 Glasgow working 111/2111 were sent I to the Home Secrotmy.
