K‘lN'G’S—'l'O-NIGHT. ' “Flower of the Dusk” is the second of the delightful novels by Myrtle Reed to be adapted for the screen use of winsome Viola Dana (the charming little Metro star), the first being “Weaver of Dreams.” Heart interest is the keynote of Miss Dana.’s work, and “Flower of the Dusk” presents :1 problem of unusual strength which brings out the beauty and depth of her emotional acting. The story is one thatlays hold of the imagination and in remembered long after the picture is seen—it is a veritable treasure-house of emotions. The story shows the beautiful love of a young girl for her blind fatlier, whose “flower of dusk” she is. To keep him in ignorance of their poverty she does fine needlework, and so supplies him with the many little-luxur-ies to which he has always been accustomed. To what lengths the devotion of this little lame girl goes i.n her love «and sacrifice for her beloved father, and of his lasting love for his deard wife, the charming play shows with powerful intensity. The story is one of heart—compelling pathos", but is at the same time full of dramatic intensity for which the pen of Myrtle Reed is famous. Viola Dana is seen at her very best as the sweet little New England girl. ' The sllmJol‘ting items are full of interest. Besides an excellent Christie comedy, “In and Out.” and the Topical Review, there is a wonderfully on-1 grossinug picture, “The Friendly Bee,” 1 showing the Work of this marvellous in- . sect in a, most attractive manner.‘ “Fishing in New Zeraland Wafers” is I also full of interest, many kinds of sport, mainly deep sea fishing in and around Cook Strait, being shown. The programme: is for one night only.
