RUMANIA’S EXTENSIONS. PARIS, Oct. 26_ An important step towards the stabilisation of the-._ situation in the Near 'East has been taken by the Supreme ‘Council, which refused Rumani-a.’s de§man"d for both banks of the River ‘Maros as far as the Theiss and control of the Arad-Satmar railway. ' Rumania has been informed that the settlement by which Rumania gets the Transylvania. province of 120,000 square- kilometfes of rich minerals is irrevocable. V The Council has settled the vexed question of the Banat of Temesvar by dividing it between Rumania and Serbia. The latter gets most of the" district of Torontal and two-tllirds of the waterways in the Banat, while Rumanja. receives the disfiicts of Temes and Gl-osseverin, with the famous mines and steel works of Resetza and Anina. . ‘
