SIR W. FRASER DEFENDS THE ESTTMATES. ‘ . WE_I3'LINGTON, this day. After the. telegraph ofiiee closed, SilWm. Fl'a.s_er.briefiy replied to the ‘debate. He defended his Estimates against the aspersions of Sir J. G. Ward that his was -a. policy lacking visi'on. The fact was he had provided more money for public works than any Government had been able to spend in the absence of the labour necessary. Labour was’ not in the c'o-untry, and he would be one of the first to advocate a policy of immigration, knowing that the right class of labourvwould be one ‘of the greatest -assets the country could have. He thanked the inembers for many kind things said of him.
