SOLDIER MEMORIAL FUND.
PAKEHAS AND MAORIS. A general meeting was held last Saturday evening in Taihape in connoction with the above fund. Mr ’\Vhenuaroa opened tlie meeting by giving a brief outline of what had taken place of late, and suggested that some tangible foundation should be naised. This suggestion was unanimously endorsed by those Present, amongst whom were'Mesdames W-henu-area, and P. Pine, Messrs G. Pine, Kingi Topia, Wilson Winiata and many others 4&5 a result of this suggestion the following contributions were made:—-—MI-s Wheqnai-oa £25, Mrs P. Pine £25, Messrs \Vilson VViniota £ls. P. Raumaewa £lO, Whenu-' area £5. Topia Kahu £2 15/. «lance proceeds (up to date) Opaea £2 12/6. Bennett’s siding £3 12/6-. Winiata £11; total £IOO. The Winiata Maoris must be complinmnted on their splendid ecort. The under-mentioned general committee are symbols of a. sincere aspiration of the organisers:— Chairman, Mr Kingi Topia; Secretary, Mr Whenuaroa (junr.); Treasurers. Messrs Whenuaroa, Wilson Winiata, Punch Pine; Committee, Messrs. Wheunara, Sully Wilson, Tihema, Tamehana, Honeri, W. Bennett.
