BIUR-DER AND SUICIDE.

To-night a man named Alexander’ Aspin, a ‘Waterside vv'erker, tried ‘to en: ter premises in Brook Street, occupied by his fox-mer wife, who Idivoreed him: about a year ago. The woman escaped and a neighbour‘ summoned Constable Dudding. When the constable arrived atthe house he looked through the kitchen window, when a. shot was fired from within, and the constable fell, a. bullet going through his right eye.Aspin then ‘set fire to the house. A posse of police and the fire brigade reached the scene shortly after, and then :1 see-o-nfd shot was heard. The house was entered, and Aspin Waé found in a dying condition with an Colt revolver alongside him. The Brigade extinguished the fire, and Aspin and Constable Dudding were removed to the hospital, ‘where they both died.
