The cellars were pitted with bullet. marks and bespattered with bloodstains. One open cellar, 20ft deep was overlooked by -a. window, from which the Bolsheviks fired with rifles at the packed mass of humanity below. The executioners arrested included several girls in their teens. The shooting was carried out regularly at 11 o’clock every night, and the number -of victims is estimated aft between 2000 and 3000.
