GUARANTEE TO FRANCE.
HELP WHEN IN NEED. ’ LONDON, Sept. 2. Reuterfs correspondent at Paris states that the French Chamber Deputies in debating the Peace Treaty, M. Tardieu disclosed the factthat France in February last proposed that Germany's geographical frontier should be fixed at the Rhine He said that Mr Wilson and Mr Lloyd George recognised the justice of this request, but instead of granting France the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine, they promised immediate help in the event of German aggression. France appreciated this offer, which was unique in ‘history. and M. Tardieu expressed the "opinion that the British ‘Army. if, its services were, required, would not arrive -too late, as the German Army would be unable to conceal its preparations. M_ Ta;-dieu dwelt on the prodigious strength of Great Britain and her admirable Dominions, and the United States, and concluded by emphasising that France had no designs for hegemony. I
