GREETING THE ADMIRAL.
A s Lord Jellicoe's motor-car neared the Junction after leaving Dunedin the other morning, two ladies, waving a Union Jack/ were seen standing in the'road (says the Dunedin Star). The car was stopped, and Lord Jellicoo got out, and, raising hi s hat, waited for the , ladies to speak; He wa s told that i they had had the honour of seeing his back from the stage of His Majesty's Theatre on Tuesday afternoon, but they wished to see him face to face, and "woulcrhe accept a slight gift in remembrance of his visit to Dunedin? The gift took the form of a greenstone tiki with a card on which were the words, "Kia Ora.',' Lord Jellicoo was both touched and delighted with the gift and the manner of its giving. He stood for some minutes chatting with the ladies. He then shook hands mounted his car, and sped north, while the ladies walked to the tramway terminus more than delighted with thentrip. Such was the last, and not the least happily expressed, farewell to Lord Jellicoe on his leaving Dunedin.
