A WEST END SLUM.
There is a sltam in the West End of London which is the home of 181 families, who, between them, have only 278 rooms.‘ (bf every thousand babies born here 346 die before they reach ‘the oge of one year. The survivors are a prodigious expense to the State and the lieal au—thority. For 78 of fhe children aeeonlmo'dafion has had to be found in industrial homes, and for 24 of them in schools for the men"rally deficient.
