-‘..:.———o_?..—. EX-CONUSL WHTO VVAS SENTENCE DTO DEATH. The London Daily Express states that Nicholas Emil Herman Adoplh Ashlers, formerly German Consul in Sunderla’n‘a, whose certificate of naturalisation was recently revoked, was deported in miil-Juno by order of.the Home Secretary. '
He was conveyed to a northern port by officers of the Special Secret Service branch, New Scotland-yard, and embarked there for Germany.
Ashlers was naturalised on August 16 1905, and in Deiember, 1914, he was senteifced ao death for high treason at the Durham Assizes. This sentence was quashed by the Court of Appeal, and.Asvhlel-S was liberated. Subsequently -he was interned. Early in March last he appealed to the Revocation Coinmittec for the re--tention of his Brfaish citizenship, but after a brief bearing his«reque:<t was refused.
