COMPULSION IF NECESSARY. WARNING FROM MINISTER. WELLINGTON. Sept. 10. The fixed intention of 'the Government to apply the compulsory'■clauses applicable to the War Purposes Loan of £10,000.000 now open for subscription, should that course become necessary, was announced by the Minister for Finance, Sir James Allen, in the House of Representatives this afternoon. Sir James said the compulsory clauses were used in respect to the ' last loan, and they would be employed j for this if necessary. In the compara--1 lively few cases where they wore employed to obtain subscriptions to the last loan, the lenders were receivingonly 3 per cent, interest. If any people were forced to subscribe to this loan they also would receive only 3 per cent, interest. In cases of people who should have subscribed to the las 1 ! loan, and neither did so voluntarily nor were compelled to do so. they would be compelled to subscribe to this one what (hey should have to the last one and then would he cmpelled to fulfil their obliagtions towards Ihig one.
