STRONG CONDEMNATION.
..______._o::.--THE ATTACK ON SOLDIER M.P.’S_ At the meeting of members of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Associ~ ation on Tuesday an article which recently appeared in the “Maoriland Worker” reflecting on some soldier members" of Parliament was strongly condemned. It was moved by Mr Mangus Badger: “That this meeting deplores the Publication of an article in the ‘Maoriland Worker’ reflecting on soldier members of Parliament, and demands from the said newspaper a complete retraction-and apology for such. a dastardly and villainous article. Seeing‘ that_ the writer is not identified at this meeting (it had been suggested that the Writer was a member of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association), the executive be requested i,“'J* fully inquired into the matter and if the‘ author is found to be a member 0:‘! this association, that he beat once expelled.” ‘ Several speakers strongly condemned the “despicable tactics and damn~ able conduct” of the writer. One (Captain Hankins) said it was the most .dastardly anal contemptible act he had cver heard Of. For the‘ author-is '-sake it would not be well to mention his name, for he would not go unseatlied. , A section held that, as the paper in question had refracted the article and apologised, the matter should not be pressed ‘further, but the motion was put to the meeting and carried almost‘ unanimously, ami7:lst, loud applause. A member said the Labour members had been satisfied on the matter, whereupon the reply was made that it was the opinion of the returned soldiers, and not the Labour members, that the meeting was concerned about,
