AUTOCRAT'S DOWNFALL.
The iriachinaltions of West End sharks were. said at _\l:lrylebone to have brought about the downfall of a memberof “one of the ‘most aristocratic families in England. The victim was Theodlore Fraser Dugdale, alias Howard. Actor, linguist, pianist, classical scholar, this 20-year-old son of a distinguished '«al~m.y ‘offiee-r declared ‘he had been led astray by'a mysterious, well-dressed man, whose auburn hair earned him the so-briquet-of “Red.” Dugdale said his ltempter failed to induce him to steal motor cars, obtain cocaine, or rob hotels, but finally tevmpted him to be at party to stealing jewellery from boarding-house -and hotel bedrooms. When arrested at a hotel, Dugdale had a revolver in his hip pocket. Mr Huntley Jenkins told how Dugdale got into the hands of the men about town when he had been disciharged badly wounded from the army. He pointed out how this member of a well-known family 'had”been snared and trapped, and "how, when he tried to free himself, he was Knocked senseless with a l«:nuel~:le-duster. The -appeal moved the -magistrate, who consented to hand Dugdale over to his mother on certain conditions. A re. mand was ordered for this purpose.
