RAILWAY RESTRICTIONS.
FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS. TIMBER TO BE CARRIED. WELLINGTON, Aug. 26. Mr R. W. Smith, M.P.. for Wailllarino, has received the following telegram from the General Manager of R‘<lilWaYs in reply to a request that .1 definite, statement should be made regarding the iarrying of timber on railways: ~— "Your telegram received re timber workers. Improvements whinh are now being made in the railway services will enable sawmills to be carried on as usual.
COMMERCIAL. Mesrs Abrahams and Williaxns, Ltd., report that at Pvalmorston North on the 21st, We had a small yarding ofl sheep and :1 good entry of cattle. The following prices were realisecl:-Sheep: Fat ewes to 32/3, aged ewes in lamb 17/. Cattle: Fat cows £lO To £lO 10/, light fat steers £lO to £l3 5/, forward cows £8 to £8 10/, to £9, store cows £4, £4 12/6, £5 12/6, to £7, empty heifers £3 2/G, £3 17/6, £4 1-2/6, -to £7, springing dairy cows £5 10/, £B, £3} 15/, £lO 10/, £l6 10/, £lB 5/ springing heifers £lO 10/, £l2, to £ls 5/.
