DOMINION’S WAR TROPHIES.
METHOD OF ‘DISTRIBUTION. I 0 STATEMENT BY DEPARTMENT. WELLINGTON, Aug. 15. Certain questions have arise-n in connection with ‘the allocation of War trophies, it is announced that trophiesx will be divided into fwo classes——(a) those identified as the provpexjty of certain I'ogilnellts, which are forwarded on arrival in New Zealand ‘to ‘the headquarters -of those. regiments, and (b) trophies fox'wzu'ded to New Zealand for general ’distribution_
In" regartls to (21), it is recognised that before ofiicers commanding regiments can arrange with the Mayors in “l‘lz(-ir regimental areas regardiiig the disposal of the trophies, it will be necessary for them ‘to be in possession of :1 list of the trophies that belong to the regiment concei-ned. It’ will not be possible, however, to supply this list untill all ti-op,'hies have arrived from England and .'Egypit, ancl thisma_v not be for anotlier month or two. .\le:ill\\'llile Mayors of distrieits, and ofiicerri connnianding regiments (must ul'l‘£mg‘e matters among themselves, or leave the final aijucation until all itrophies are receive'd. It is suggested that the latter alternative should be adopted. The same thing ‘applies to (b), for until all trophies arrive the list of those allotted to any particular district omniot be supplie(l.l
