BUTTER SHORTAGE IN TAIHAPE.

DEPARTMENTAL ACTION. In our issue of yesterday we }_tub~ lishcd the correspondence which had been taking place between Mr R. W. Smith, M.P., and the Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald, with regara to the butter shortage in Taihafp'é“aTnd district. The Minister, in his“last wire, stated: “However, I am looking into =th-e. matter as far as butter‘ls concerned, and may be able to send some to T.a.ihape.” That the Minister ‘his “made good” is evident from the following telegram Mr Smith received last night from Mr MacDonald:

Mr R. W, Smith, M.P.,———Referring to my telegra.m‘regarding butter supplies for Taihape, the Director of =the Dairy Division is doing whsat is possible. under the circumstafices and has already been in communication with one firm of storekeepers in Taihape in regard to the m‘atter.——-W. D. S. MacDonald.
