TRAITOR’S TURN COMES. LONODN, July 22. The correspondent of the “Times.” in Paris regorts that. there were moving scenes at the trial of the traitor Louis Riehard for causing the arrest and execution of Mr Jacquet at Lille during the German occupation. Madame Jaequet, who was in deep mourning, deposed that her husband assisted Allied soldiers to escape through the German lines.
Richard, a lance-corporal, pretended to help, but contrived Jacquet’s bef trayal. After the lattel"s execution 21 German detective, Schmidt, pointed out Richard to the widow, saying: “There’s the man who gave your husband away. We would hand him over, but he is useful to us"’
Madame Jacquet, in court, passionately idcnounced tho traitor, saying: “Yolu coward! You’Vc caused my husband, and father of my five children, to be shot for doing his duty.” Jacquctfg da.ugh’rer subsequently denounced the accused. concluding: “Whom will your turn come?” Richard has been accused of many similar acts.
