A brief summary of the suggestions made by the applicants who have recommended Messrs H. Morrison (Greytown), A. D. McLeod (Martinborough), and Henry Gascoyne (Mara-3Kr.kaho, Hawkes’ Bay) as as-. sessns, i> as fOHOWS:—-
Rates of P}a:v.—~Sh,eal'ers: Not less_ than £1 53 per hundred, with rations; in addition a war bonus of 5s per hundred In cases where shearers find themselves in rations this rate shall he increased by 45 per -hundred_ The rafe for stud sheep shall be settled by agreement between employer and shearer, and the rate for hogget. rams shall be time and a-half, an'd for other rams double ordinary rates. Other workers: Pressers and Wool-rollers (when engaged by the week), £2 73 6d per week; all other shed hands per week; cooks, £3 55 per Week;} cooks,’ assistants, £2 5s per week. ‘All Weekly hands shall receive an additional 10s per week war bonus. When not employed by the week pressers and wool~ro-llers 'sh:a.ll be paid 1s 56.‘ per hour, and other shed hands 1s 4d per hour, with an additional 3d per hour War bonus.
Hours -of w.'ork,—--The hours of shéaring shall be from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m_, Or from 5.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., with intervals for meals and smoking. Shearing shall stop at 4 pm. on Saturdays, except in the case when 48 hours and 20 minutes’ work shall -have’ been done ‘
Ergvision is "made, thatf “each shearer shall shear with “all reasonable despateh the sheep the’ ..Q‘lllployel' or his agent requires him ‘to shear, and in ‘good time and in a wdrkmanlike manner, to the satisfaction of his employer or agent. In the settlement of disputes 3. representative shall be électeé by the shea:-crs, to act with the person in charge of the shed.
It is further proposed thaf the award shall come into force as from the Ist Septem'Ber_. 1919, and shall continue i—n force until the 28th Fez» ruary, .1922_
