SOCIAL AND DANCE AT RAUKURA
0 (From a Correspondent.) The residents at Kaukura met at Mr Jenson's large woolshed on the evening of the ISth to tender a social iand dance to Miss A. McCjoll, our popular school mistress, on the eve of her marriage to Mr R. Dobson. Dancing varied with other forms of entertainment, was kept up ~well into the "wee sma' hours," the large rry crowd present testifying to the esteem in which our guest is held. • At the close of the evening, Mr C. E. Laidlay, in a well-chosen speech, on behalf of the residents, presented Miss McColl with a handsome silver tea service on an oak tray, ;as a small token of the esteem in which she is held by the residents of Kaukura. Mrs Addis and others also spoke kind words of their appreciation of Miss McColl's seventeen years of service as mistress of our local school. Mr J. McColl, in a few well-chosen words, suitably responded on behalf of the guest of the evening, and family. Our thanks are due to Mr Jensen for the use of his woolshed and to the /ladies ,'afadi !gensfemen who assisted with the arrangements to make the evening such a success.
