Liverpool dealt; withmtlihe tour of the Pacific Islands. Referring to the fruit shortage in the Dominion,‘ he said within 1800 miles of New Zealand was enough fl-uit——especia.lly orang€s—— to supply all the needs of the Dominion He hoped New Zealand would rise to the occasion with the opportunity presented at Fiji. The Governor said that colony had sent a message to the Government of New Zealand asking for greater development of trade between Fiji and the Dominion. Here was zuiot’-.ler opening for New Zealand but it had to be recognised that the .~;mne disadvantages in lack of shipping and labour existed as in other parts. He paid :1 tribute to the ‘New Zealand Government,’s work at Samoa, where, in 1914, there were no schools and practically no communicat"iens, but new schools and wireless stations were erected. He regarded it as a duty of the representative of the sovereign‘ to acquaint himself with all ‘parts of the Dominion and he thought the «Kings representative should go to the Islands at least twice during his term of office. The Tutanekai is expected to leave after midnight for the south. ._____._______....._.._______________
