Mr Roy Neagle donated the prizes, and Mesdames Ashton and Torrey tied for first place for the lady’s prize, and pin the play-ofi Mrs Ashton secured the prize. Mr Phillips Won the gent’s prize; the booby Winners were Miss ‘C:_nilp'bell and Mr Geange, Junr. The Ladies of -the Club provided supper.

There have been many successful socials held in connection with the Methodist Church, but the gathering held last Monday night. must rank as one of the most successful. Billed as a concert, it partook more of a social nature, for aapart from the very fine musical programme, there were competitions, social chat, and supper. The Rev. XV. Hocking presided, and Mesdames Prime and Scherf opened the programme with a. well—played pianofonte duct. Miss Stevens then sang “Crossing the Bar,” followed by Mr Jackson, whose violin solos met with the approval of the audience, and lie had to respond to an encore. Mrs Niven recited “Reggie” in 3. manner that stamped her as «a. reciter of more than average ability. Mr Campbell’s song, “Tinga. Ling,” made a decided hit, and athe audience wanted more, but Mr Campbell gracefully declined, Mr Niven then sang, “In an Old Fashioned Town/’.:and a pianofortc solo by Miss ,Hebberd, and,.a recitation, “The Old |iVßat.chelor,” by Mr Hocking‘, brought. the first part of the programme to a finish. Prime. The suppers provided by the ladies of Olurtu are always noteworthy, but they excel-_ led all previous ofl"'ort‘s; on Monday night. For excellence and variety, as well as qu:antit'y, the supper provided would take a lot of beating.
