TO-NIGHT. ' MONSTER FIREWORKS DISPLAY.! After the conclusion oi-the Chil-= dren’s festivities which are being held as we go to press, a monster display of fireworks will be given in the ‘Recreation Grounds. It is not nec—i essary, neither is it desirable tol crowd down to the grounds to view, this spectacle, as it will be witnessed‘ to better advantage some distance away, besides lessening the danger to 1 people. . 5 THE GRAND REVUE. i Immediately following the fireworks‘; the Grand Revue, which Mr and Mrs; Stan. Peyton and Company are sub-g mitting for public enjoyment, will be staged at the Town Hall. The organisers, with their talented, company, have been assiduously practising and a delightful two hours of fun are anticipated While, in the. main, the programme is the same as was ‘previously. rendered, several nov'eltics have been introduced The King’s Pictures will be free to it all, and a first-class programme has been selected. Tho‘ procession, headed by the band, will leave the Gretna Hotel at 1 o’clock precisely, and the route taken to the Recreation Grounds will be from the Gretna Hotel iailong Hautapu Street, down --Kuku Street, and along Pokakostrect, Hula Street, up Tui Street to Railway Sta'tion and down Kukli‘"Streot to the Recrhation Grounds. The route is .—a long one, and will give anlple- oppor--s’mnity for everyone , to witness what will undoubtedly prove -to? be the ‘most unique event in the history of Taihape. ~"A1-rived at the Ree'rcation ‘Grounds, thcijudging -will’ be completed and» prizes allotted. W‘, ‘N FOOTBALL AND SPORTSD The afternoon will be devoted to football, hockey and sports. At 2.15 p.m_ precisely the football todrnament will be opened with a match between Mataroa and Pirates B Junior teams, followed by other matches at fifteen minute intervals At 3.15 the hockey match between.Huia and Old Girls will take place and the final in the junior football matches Tvill ‘be played at 3.30, followed a quarter of ‘an hour later by the Seniors’ final. The tug-of-war” contest has been ,scheduled for 4 o’clock and this will The the most exciting bout of the day. ,The Maori team is very confident, but lthe Diggers, are wearing a “smile that lwon’t come off” when they discuss» itheir own chances.
