PEACE DAY SPORTS.
The following entries have been received for the tournament events for ;the Peace Day adult Sports on Monday, 21st inst:——
Senior football, seven-a—side.-Pirates, Huia, Rovers, Diggers.
Ladies’ six-:1-side hc;_ckey.—-Huia. and Old Girls. _r
At the requesij o;f_,-‘Vthe junior football players, a juni ‘ seven—a-side tournament has alsdgll included on the pl*ogl'amnle, and prizes will also be gold medals to each member of the winning team. Enfries for the junior seven—a~side have been received from Huia, Mata:-oa, and Pifates A and BA teams.
A special prize of a guinea trophy or medal presented by Mr A. J. Joblin will be given to» the best returned soldier back and forward in the tournament, irrespective of What steam he
plays in. The Sports’ Executive ‘fire very pleased to receive an‘ entry from;the returned soldiers, and naturally the sympathy of the public will go with this -‘team. ’ ‘
Much enthusiasm is being‘ displayed by the football and hockey enthusiasts, and a spectacular and exciting afternoon’s sport should eventuaT:e§
The returned soldiers have also ontered two teams for athe tug-of-mar" contest, and with the experience gained whilst abroad their A team should win that event. Teams from the Maoris, Railway, and several other combinations are promised.
