Curtaine, at the :request. of the A}R.S.A., investigated ‘complaints 3bollt the treatnient of fpatients at Featherston Military HosLpital. Mr_ Bur-gin last night reported [to a meeting of the Auckland Branch and said they found the complaints made were entirely justified. The delegation was shocked at many things it discovered,‘ and said they had not believed it possible such con. ditions .-could exist in an hospital where such victims of war are tre/at—— ed, They spent June 29th and 30th in the camp hospital, whel"e"there were about on hundred tubercular cases and forty patients with heart trouble. There was a" general shortage of crockery, and all sick men were using badly broken-and chipped enamelware.~ Sheets and tea towels were badly stained, and there was not proper provision of clothing.’ The old wooden hutments used as wards we_re comfortless. There was ashortage of ‘firewood. The root of the trouble was a lack of co—ol-dination between Ordnance and ‘Medical lDe;Tal-tments, and the hospital orderlies were not of the right type of n'len. ‘After their visit they» saw‘ General Rieharfdson, who gave an assurance that every defeet would be rectified imme‘diatel‘y‘_
