Peace Celebrations.
THE MINISTER'S LETTER. The following letter has been received by HTs Worship the Mayor from the Hon. G. W, Russell with regard to the payment of subsidy and granting permission to hold two days' celebrations instead of one, as was at first fixed:—"Referring to my telegram of the 10th inst., I have now toadvise you that Cabinet has resolved that the Peace celebrations shall becontinued;: oh Monday, .which shall'be children's day_ " Regret that it is impossible to furnish special : trains. • -The subsfay will be; avail; ; able in connection with approved expenditure -incurred in respect of celebrations on that day in addition to Saturday .19th. A copy of . His Majesty's Proclamation declaring thePeace Treaty signed is being forwarded with the suggestion that it -be road at the celebrations." ; ;Uj£-<rj>
