RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION.

IMPORTANT MEETING TO-NIGHT.

The quarterly general meeting of the Taihape and Districe Returned Soldiers Association will be held in the supper room of the Town Hall tonight at eight o’eloek sharp. , Although the sittings of the War Pensions Board have been cancelled, the returned Soldiers’ representhtive on the Board will address the meeting on the subject of pensions, and will answer any questions relating either to pensions or Et*o general matters affecting the welfare of returned soldiers. Every returned soldier, whether he is a. member of the Association or not, is cordially invited to hear Mr H-arper’s address.

The business to be transacted by the general meeting is most iniporitant, and several niatters of urgent nature will be brought“ up for general discussion. The reorganisation scheme. adopted by the recent conference, and the adoption of a definite land settlement scheme have greatly enlarged the scope of the work to be accomplished by local associati-ons, and various ii:la.t--ters in connection with these changes will need to be discussed by a full nlee"t=ing. The question of the erection of at Soldiers’ Club is one on which a full expression of opinion is desirable, and, in addition, the meeting will have to consider the advisability of appointing a paid secl‘etar_v, in order "to zxssisf. with the general scheme of_organisation. Other iniportaiit matters will also be brought up for discussion, and :1 full attendance of members and intending members is urgently requested.
