BANK CLERKS.

PROPOSAL TO FORM A UNION. BALLOT NOW BEING TAKEN. A further vote on the question of forming a. It is explained by s,uppol'ters of the union movement that any union formed will have for its primary object the increasing‘ of salaries, but under the scheme it is proposed to make provision for the dissemination of knowledge concerning modern banking‘ mcth'od;<, thus educating and fostering a. Spirit of emulation among the clerks. To attain this end, it is proposed to introduce ‘:1 system of lectures on banking matters, to provide a, bankers’ magazine, and to award scholarships and prizes on a well-devised system.
