FARMERS WANT STATISTICS. CHRISTCHURCH, July 26.. . At to- .zy's meeting of the executive a letter was received from the Minister for Agriculture, the Hon. W. D. S. .MacD<:-11~ ald, pointing out that such information was in the hands of the Controller of the Imperial Government Supplies Depa.rt:ment. In reply to a. request for the information, the con--froller, the Hon. D. H. Guthrie, Aeting»Minister in charge, wrote as follows: “I have to advise that while the information is in the posesssion of this Department, it is obtained confidentially, and consequently cannot be divulged. I would suggest, however, that you might take the matter up with the chairman of the association of freezing companies-.” ' “Botlf Ministers have shelved the matter,” said the chairman, Mr. «DJones, “in the suggestion that the’ chairman of the association of freezing companies, should be be written to.” Eventually it Wasdecided that “ leter should be written to the Minister in Charge of Imperial Supplies explaining why the information was wanted by the farmers ant’ ask’ _g whether'it could not ’given future.” ‘" ‘. _ 3 ii
