..__o____ MEETING IN TAIHAPE TO-NIGHT. A final reminder is given to those interested in securing homes of their own under the “Workcrs’ D\vellin”§s Actl’ of the meeting to be held in the Presbyterian Hall at 8 o’clock this evening. ‘Mr. R. W. Smith M.P., who takes a very keen interest in an that concerns the working classes, will be present, and will be ‘able to giro some valuable information. The following informatiion will be of service to those who desire to take advantage of the fa'c‘ilities‘ given by the Government to build hoifses. The applicants, whose total earnings for the past year must not have exceeded £225, are required to pal’ £1 down with their applications and £9 before the contract is signeiy making a total deposit of £lO. The balance has to be paid in"Tveekly or monthly instalments, at the rate. of 7 per cent. per annum on the capital value. In this Way the houses will become the property of the applicants in 253,- years in the case of wooden buildings, and 34% years in the case of concrete buildings, on which The rite of repayment is 6 per cent. It is probable that a system of '6onci-ete construction willfibe generally adopted by the Department, the cost being only a litle more than for wooden houses. _ The Mayor (Mr_ A. J.
