KING GEAEGE’S MESSAGE.

The following cable message from Buckingham Palace has been received by General Booth in connection with the Salvation Army’s jubilee celebrations: “General Booth, on the occasion of the jubilee of the Salvation Army, I heartily congratulate you and its members on the mighty achievements of your system, formed half a century ago by your distinguished father. By its work of love and mercy in .peace and in war, the Salvation larmy has become honoured and endeared to the nations of the world.— (Signed) George R.I. ”
JELLICOE IN AUSTRALIA.
UNITY OF NAVAL CONTROL ESSENTIAL.

SYDNEY, this day.
Admiral Jellieoe, in an Interview, questioned regarding local control or otherwise of the Dominions’ Navies, guardedly said there must he unity of control, and uniformity of training; the' ships must work in peace time together with those beside which they are intended to fight during war time. Lord Jellieoe declared the antidotes discovered hy the British would he effective f against any ■ 'class' of submarine. Asked if circumstances of the war constituted lany evidence against the battleship as a weapon : Of practical naval value, fne admiral replied: * 7 Certainly not; wiJßiont hattliesMps the seas could not he kept clear of the enemy.”
