MOTOR TRACTION.
At this critical period in the world's history, when the question of food
supplies is such an urgent one and
every minute of value, speed, transport and reliability are three important factors, and any mechanical means of increasing the world's supply of foodstuffs is- to be \velcomcd_ The machine which will- contribute the utmost in this respect is proving to he the motor, in one form or another —the
waggon or truck, the tractor and trailer and motorvan—for no matter how industriously and accurately men work, if they have not the means of transportation for their products, the work is almost useless, no matter what St may be. Quick to realise its condition, there arc many manufacturers in the U.S. which are concentrating their energies on the production of tractor motors and cultivators and already have improved upon them since the commencement of war, during which they learnt much, that was helpful in overcoming troubles due to 'the nature of the country traversed. Good roads, of course, mean rapid transportation, and therefore the old saying that they are instruments in the business of farming is again heing verified and emphasised.
