SEDITION IN INDIA.
VILLAGES HEAVILY PINED. LONDON, April 24 The Pr.ess Bureau has issued the following report from the Viceroy of India dated April 23: —“In the Punjab a strike was reported in Goora and Lyallpur, and. martial law was uedared in the latter district in view of the strong anti-British propaganda, and the constant cutting of the telegraph wires. The curfew hours at Lahore have bo|en shortened, and a flying column from Ferozepore, made some arrests at Manjha, Another column from Kiahore visited Gnjranwala. Cases of incendiarism have been reported from Jullundur. ' / Further reports of evil Delhi Influences have been received in the Rohtak district. A report on April 24 stated that all was quiet in Lahore and Amritsar. The cutting of the water channel 15 miles southward of Lahore has flooded the Multan Road
Fines amounting to half a year's revenue have been imposed on certain Tillages near Lahore. The chief Kalsaytwan at Amritsar sent a message to the Sikhs requesting them to refrain from any movement calculated to disturb peace. An armoured train, is operating along the Hamazata railway. It is stated ithat strikes have been prevented by the presence of troops. The Nawab of Loharu has placed 50 armed camel Sowars at the Government’s disposal.
