CHILD’S NARROW ESCAPE.

A rather serious case of a child under three years of ago'' having strayed a long distance from home was discovered last night. A tiny girl, little removed from the toddler stage, had wandered some three miles in the route she had taken and which end brought her to the end of a blind road at the back of Mr A. Nathan's property, in Euru road. The child could get no further, and there she remained, sending out. her S.O.S. in her most approved fashion, and with such force as she was vocally capable. Her cries were hoard by Mr A. Nathan, who immediately sent someone to reconnitre, with the result that the little girl, who could only just give the information that her name was Mary, was brought to him Mr Nathan at once communicated with the police, and arranged for having the child returned to her home. From the number of small children one secs about the streets, it seems providential that some are not lest and come to a painful and untimely end. If Mr Nathan’s : use had not been within hearing distance of this little one, she would probably have exhausted herself with crying, and have fallen asleep, to be picked up dead in the morning from exposure to a night of sharp frost. Will mothers take this warning? •
