FOUND DROWNED.
DUNEDIN. May 1.3
At the inquest on the body of Mervyn Greene, found at Lawyer’s Head this morning, the evidence showed that urr the night he disappeared he had five or six drinks of whisky, then proceeded to a chemist for a “pick me up.” He subsequently visited the Tivoli tea rooms, but, not feeling well, went to a public convenience where he was last seen. Deceased had pneumonic influenza, in Fcathcrston Camp last November and he thought it affected his heart. A verdict of found drowned was returned.
PURIFYING NEW ZEALAND.
AUCKLAND, May 13. A party of 16S prisoners of war was despatched for Wellington by special train to-night to join the Willoehra en route to Germany. The party comprised 71 German men, three women, 13 children and 80 Jugo-Slavs, who desire to be repatriated, and one Austrian. The party includes Dr. Schultz, ex-Government of Samoa, and Count Von Luckner and Lieut. Kirche!ss. No crowds gathered to witness the march through Devonport, but small boys took evident relish in counting out the prisoners a« they passed.
